The family is doing the San Diego type vacation stuff over the 4th of July
weekend. I was thinking of booking us out of H&M landing one day over the weekend or maybe Monday. Anybody fish with them before? We will two have younger kids (7 and 9) so I figure a half day morning trip is about all I should go for. I've only fished offshopre twice in the past. Both times in private boats many many years ago. What should I expect out of a commercial head boat trip like this? -- Public Fishing & Boating Forums Fishing & Boating Link Index www.YumaBassMan.com |

Depends where you are staying as to where you should go out of. If staying in the Mission Beach / Sea World area, use Seaforth landing. They are a little west of Sea World on Mission blvd. They are also closer to the La Jolla kelp beds where a lot of the 1/2 day boats fish. 3/4 day to the Islands (Coronado's in MX) may be a long day, but the kids can nap. They all have kitchens (grills) on board, and will cook breakfast / lunch for you, as well as sell sodas / water / beer ($1 ea). Take a bass pole if local for Calico bass. They rent poles for the heavier stuff. They supply all bait. Buy some #1 and #2 livebait hooks and some 1/4-1oz egg sinkers. Depending on the size of the bait, those are the size hooks you need. Look up Squidco for a tackle store. Near the Coronado Bridge. Lots of bass stuff as well as salt water. Big wholesale warehouse. And do take the kids to Luigi's for great pizza and italian food. They have a 30" pizza for big groups or just get a slice. Is on Pacific Beach Blvd. About 1/2 block from Belmont park and the rollercoaster. Bill |
