I don't see Moe here much anymore...
Anyone have a recommendation for a good 1-day charter? It has to be fairly close to a hotel and preferably on the south or southeast side of the lake. I'm looking for a trip in December or January. Thanks, Dan |

I'm looking for a trip in December or January. Thanks, Dan ----------------- Dan, I recommend Jim Wells, who guides for Scott Martin out of Clewiston. Bubba Martin and I went out with Jim for two full days a few years back, and he put us on bass when no one else was able to coax a bite. Both days he worked hard, trying a number of patterns and locations, until we connected. Most places we caught a few bass, and both days ended up with 50+ bass over the gunwales. Wells is an old-timer, and he knows the lower end of Okeechobee probably better than anyone I know. Lake Okeechobee Fishing Guides is owned and operated by Scott Martin in conjunction with Roland Martin's Marina and Resort. Web: http://www.scottrmartin.com/lodging_info.htm Phone: 863-447-2043 E-mail: Cell (863) 447-2043 I called Scott and told him you might give him a shout. From what I hear, vegetation on the lower end of the lake was drastically affected by last year's hurricanes, and the fish are harder to locate and reach than in years past. Joe |
