Anyway, I do something similar with a steelhead rig box thingee. Do
any of you pre-tie two flies or droppers and if so, have you found a
good way to store them for the stream?

Well, look what the cat drug in and the dog wouldn't bury! How goes,
other than the eyes, of course. Fighting macular degeneration on my
own. Hope all goes well.
I do like droppers, but I don't pre-rig them. It would be nice, but
I've never found a way to carry them smartly in my vest.

Frank, it is good to hear from you! Things could be worse, I have
lost a lot of weight (32 lbs), and I have been exercising some. I
tore a retina and a skilled surgeon, who was about 19 years old I
would guess, tacked it back up and my vision is better than it was
when I went to the hospital. I still can't see well enough to tie
flies on while standing in a stream at dusk but other than that, I be
above ground.

I worked with a lad with macular degeneration and he had to have
magnifying glasses for everything and a giant and I mean giant monitor
on his computer. He did pretty well, and I hope you are doing well
too.

Doing well. I tie with reading glasses and a magnifier. I have dual,
22" monitors on my work station so I can read everything. I make do.
Does really suck at dusk, trying to tie on a fly. Thats why my only
evening fishing is for the Green Drake hatch. Hell, those are big
enough to feed the collective ROFF ego.
So, who's husband punched you in the eye? :-)

If you go into a store like Joanne Fabrics, they sell small punch out cards
that are designed to have a full skein of embroidery floss wrap around
them, and they have precut slots to hold the ends secure. I think these
will work nicely with no modification. Just tie up your rig, put a loop on
the end for a loop-to-loop, and wrap it around the card. You could
probably fit a dozen or so of these into an altoids tin.

Cool. I've got a bunch of those that I store my chennille on. I'll
try it.

If it works well, we can print a picture of a fly on the cards, and sell
them for $8.50 in fly shops, instead of $2 in Joanne's. Maybe we can
spruce up the Altoids boxes and sell them for $15. I'll start doubling up
on my Altoids consumption right away, so we'll have a head start.

Indian Joe offers----sounds like the aarp of fishing needs some advice--I
tie a dropper on a dry fly with about 12 inch of leader then stick all
into a 35mm film can.

When I get bo
red of fishless casting I break it out and attach to leader. Pretty soon
the whole mess gets tangled or I catch another tree.
If the damm fish won't just take my plain old yellow humpy he can just go
hungry.
But it all beats the hell out of sitting home and worrying about which
nursing home receives my deposit!

I saw a guy selling these at a fly show once:

http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/62...scription.html

It seemed to work pretty good, but I don't remember how he used it.
I do remember that the price seemed pretty freakin' extravagant for
a 35mm film canister with velcro wrapped around it, with a loop to
hang it on a zinger. Hell, even wayno could make his own in about
two minutes.
