OT Dead Falwell

One of the founding fathers of the American Taliban is dead today
at age 73.

Jerry Falwell was as great a threat to tolerance and American values
as any American of the late 20th century. If he has a spot at the
heavenly table I hope god seats him between two gay guys.

I can't quite bring myself to rejoice in another's death, but I am
nonetheless confident that America and Christianity are better off as a

I'm not celebrating, I'm not rejoicing, the sentiment I expressed was
that the Reverend Falwell should get his just desserts at the heavenly
table. I'm sure the Reverend Falwell hoped the same, although probably
not in the same fashion. ;-)

As for tolerance and the lack thereof, it's not a bad thing nor an
indication of a lack of character to be intolerant of intolerance.

It's not your intolerance of intolerance I am speaking of. You're
intolerant of anyone who thinks differently than you politically and
spiritually. If they don't think like Ken thinks, they are fools,
hateful, intolerant, etc.

Some people are hateful, intolerant fools, that's true, but I would
never believe that of them merely because they disagree with my personal
views on politics or spirituality. When I express disgust at someone's
hateful intolerance it's because they posted something here that was
hateful and intolerant not because they disagree with me.
