Hi guys,
My setup (see below) gives me from daybreak to around 2 pm or so. This is not cutting it for me. It is a new battery as of January, the water is at proper levels, and I always charge it back up right away. There is enough room to mount another battery or is there a single battery solution (make and model) that I should know about? I looked through my MotorGuide manual and couldn't find how current it draws. I will keep looking. I considered a Combiner 100 but my boat does very short runs on these small SoCal lakes and I am not sure if that would be sufficient enough to charge the SRM 27. I use the TM mostly down here on these "ponds". Any advice is welcomed. I am thinking of either adding a battery (but that would extend my overnight charge time should I want to fish the next day) or, replacing the Interstate with a higher quality/capacity battery if there is one out there. Is there one that will last all day? Thanks again. 2005 Lowe Stinger 160W w/50HP E-Tec Motorguide FW FB 46 Trolling Motor 12V system Interstate SRM 27 Battery for the TM Dual Pro ~ Lil' Pro 2 bank charger, 3 stage (4 amps per bank) |

I've had bad luck with that brand. However, realistically a single battery probably won't have the capacity you want regardless of the brand. Two batteries in parrallel would work better. If you want to try and stay with one you could go with a high quality group 30/31 battery but not knowing what you are hoping to achieve I would say that would probably only give you another couple hours of fishing time. Yout thought that you should have two batteries is probably the best option. Another note.... 24V TMs tend to be more efficient at the same net output than 12V TM. Variable speed TMs also seem to work better than multi speed TMs. So... that may be something to keep in mind for the future. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com 2005 Lowe Stinger 160W w/50HP E-Tec Motorguide FW FB 46 Trolling Motor 12V system Interstate SRM 27 Battery for the TM Dual Pro ~ Lil' Pro 2 bank charger, 3 stage (4 amps per bank) -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

My few questions are..... what size (thrust)TM are you using, and what size
wiring is running from the battery to the TM? I went through the same problems when I first got my boat, about 6 hours use if I was lucky, and less if I used #5 speed on the footpad. My TM is a 54# and the #10 wiring wasn't working well. Run your Tm on high for about 10 minutes and feel the wiring, if it's warm to the touch you need to upgrade the wiring. I went to #6 soft wiring for Pos and Neg side and I can now go days on one charge. "SHRED" wrote in message ... Hi guys, My setup (see below) gives me from daybreak to around 2 pm or so. Then I will devote the charger to the 2 trollers. The cranking battery gets charged decently from the outboard. Thanks! Ted |

I would also guess the 4 A charger is not cutting it. You need some
quality amps for a deep cycle battery, around 10A I'd say.. sket |

Also if you hook up that 4A charger to batterys in parallel it will give
only 2A per battery.. sket |

I am hearing now that the AC Delco Voyager, the largest one (30), would pull my boat around all day no problem, by itself. I will do some more research. |

Even #10 wiring can look beefy.
