The park service finally chimed in, agreeing that the road should not be
built. So "nowhere" should remain intact...assuming Bush and his cronies keep their focus on "other" things to screw up. Congress has authorized a portion of the settlement dollars, but for some reason seems to be having trouble finding the funding... www.northshoreroad.info western nc is in an extreme drought stage right now and fishing has been slow this trip...but the tranquility and beauty of the area satisfies. visited hazel creek yesterday... still inspiring to walk about up there. i'm on a 42 bps dial-up (the earthlink snowbird express), so won't be posting photos on abpf until i get home. water flow in the streams is very slow and low. santetlah lake is at normal levels though...so there's a chance i'll go looking for a smallmouth. jeff |
