We need to buy some spinning reels over the winter. We mostly fish for bass.
I like smaller reels as I have a bad right hand. Would appreciate some recommendation for quality reels with a max cost in the $130 range. Any suggestions appreciated. Any thoughts for spinning rods would also help us. Hope that's enough info. We don't fish tourneys, but do give our gear lots of work so we're looking for above average performance. We had several stolen last season and are down to our last two. Thanks as ususal guys and gals. -- God Bless America Josh The Bad Bear |

Thanks as ususal guys and gals. Get a 2500 Diaiwa I landed a 28 pound cat on one of those,,, It will handle any bass, yet it is smaller than most bass fishermen use. I have 4 of them, and use them for most of my fishing, I have them mounted on rods from a heavy Castaway worm rod to my two 9 1/2 foot steel head St. Crox's -- SpecTastic Wiggle Rig, Fishing lure remote control See lure video you won't believe http://ezknot.com/videos.html |

Thanks as ususal guys and gals. Hi Josh, I've had some great luck with Shimano Sahara and Stradic reels. You'd be looking at $80 - $130 if I remember pricing correctly. I'd suggest the 1500 series size as typically you'll have them spooled with 10 pound line and the capacity is plenty with that size reel. They're very light in weight and mine have held up great over the years. Another reel to look at is those made by Ardent Reels. They make one that's about the right size and they're right around $130 too if I remember. What I like about these reels is they're 100% American made and come with a full three year warranty. -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |

Thanks as ususal guys and gals. I guess it would depend on what you want to do, but I have found two rods and one reel fills most of my spinning needs. Almost a universal rod. QUANTUM TOUR EDITION HSX54 TES704F 7' MED SPINNING Topwater, cranking, light baits, splitshotting, and dropshotting. I have five or six of the Quantum rod listed above. Heavier Applications ST CROIX PREMIER PS70MHF7' MH Fast Wacky Senkos, Moderate cover, Heavier line, Carolina Rig, etc. I have two of these St Croix Rods. I would probably have more, but many of the things I use them for I have swung over to med/hvy fast baitcasting rods. Daiwa ss1600 whisker tournament series spinning reel However, you may find this reel to be larger than you are looking for. I've got five of these reels, and when I get a little extra cash I plan to buy a couple more to leave in the boxes on the shelf for spares. Very Rarely I need a lighter spinning rod for bluegill or crappie fishing and occassionally for making extra long casts with lighter line. For the I use a Fenwick Eagle GT 7' rod. I've got half a dozen of these also, but I do not have the part number for that one memorized. Good luck. Its about finding what works for you though. What works for me might not be the best thing for your applications or style. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

I fish about 20 hours per week, more if the wife lets me
![]() tourny's. I've had good luck using Quantum's Kinetic PTi. they have 20's, 30's and 40's models and depends on how heavy of a line you'll use. I use the 30 for both Smallies and Largemouth. I use a 7 foot, medium Bionic Blade rod with it. If you keep on the look out from Cabela and Bass Pro Shops they'll have combo deals in the price range you're looking for. I've caught a 22 inch Largemouth on 6 pound line as well as 20 inch Smallies on that setup. Mike "Joshuall" wrote in message . .. We need to buy some spinning reels over the winter.
