Joe the Elder joe, i went over on a golf trip in the '80's, and was knocked out by the beauty of the place and the gracious nature of the locals. i stayed in a little town about 40 miles from st. andrews named comrie, with a friend of the family. there was a great little hotel in the center of town called (surprise, surprise) the royal hotel. it sits nearly on the banks of the earn river, a beautiful piece of water that was full of rising fish in the early evenings. i didn't fish--didn't bring a rod, spent all my time playing golf and driving around the countryside. truth be known, i would imagine you could find decent fishing at many, many places north of edinburgh. comrie might be a good gate into the highlands. yfitp wayno |

Joe the Elder No suggestions other than I am putting together a trip for the middle of August 2008, if you want to time your trip around there. It's what will be my 50th birthday gift to myself-native brown trout and native malt. |

Joe the Elder Mcintosh - son of the chief - part of the Clan Chattan - The Cat. Originally from the Moray district of Scotland, that's the bit east of Inverness. There are lots of places to stay in the area. Inverness itself, capital of the Highlands, Nairn, Forres, Aviemore, Granton-on-Spey and many more. The best time to go would be middle to late May or early September, the summer months are plagued by the famous Scottish Midge, a small biting fly that can make a holiday a misery. As to places to fish - River Ness itself - usually fished for Atlantic Salmon River Spey - Salmon, Sea Trout and Brown Trout Lochindorb - home to the castle of the Wolf of Badenoch - Brown Trout River Nairn - Salmon and Brown Trout River Findhorn - Salmon All are in the area of the Clan Mcintosh. There are many more but these are probably the best known. Go west from Inverness and you have even more choices, fishing some of the wildest places in Scotland, nothing compared to the American wilds but wild enough ![]() Have a look at my website for a feel of the fishing available to the west of Inverness. Also try the Fish Wild link also in my sig. I hope this helps and you have a great time. -- Don`t Worry, Be Happy Sandy -- E-Mail:- Website:- http://www.ftscotland.co.uk Looking for a webhost?
