Default Cortland flyline

Hi,
I just came across a Cortland "Climax" flyline. How do they compare
with the "444", are they as good, worse, anybody used one?

Not listed on the Cortland website. Must be some ancient or fake product.

They are priced lower than the 444 lines, but they are perfectly
servicable. The only one I have is a 7wt that I use exclusively on carp
ponds; it casts and floats just fine, and I like the stealthy color.

Many of the lower end and potentially high end fly lines are made in the
same factory, just labeled with whatever name SA, Cortland, etc... on the
way out the door.

Following is a site that I have bought a couple factory seconds from for
backup, they seem to work very well... At the time I purchased the lines,
they were around $6.00. At $8.50 they are still cheap for a backup or
someone new looking to get into the sport.

No affiliation with this outfit...

Or not a Cortland product:

Its affiliated with Cortland if not fully owned. IIRC they were
acquired by Cortland about 5 years ago. Here's a link to Cortland's
outlet store where they sell products from there own line and the
lines of their affiliates:

I remember because at the time my favorite tippet materials were
Cortland Presentation and Climax and when I read about the merger in a
flyfishing rag I was left wondering which of my favorites would
disappear.

g.c.

Who now uses the German made Cortland 333 tippet material so it no
longer makes any difference.

Thanks everybody. It seems thay are Cortland lines by Climax or Climax lines
by Cortaland either way thay are Cortland lines. Thanks for the input.
