Disney owns a large number of media outlets...from espn to magazines...to

Well, yes.... way after 9/11. Sometime toward the end of May of this year he
took his citizenship test and was sworn in as a U.S. citizen. He retains his Canada citizenship, however, so it's still correct to describe him as a Canadian.
