I have built a couple of rods on their blanks. They are decent enough .

Good detective work.

I have held one and thought the balance was way off. I forget which model,
but it was for swimbaits and it was 8' I think.

I'd rather throw a V-Rod myself.

Nice credentials your son has John. I take it by the boats he's pictured in
that he fished those bass-filled California trout lakes where rental
johnboats & electric motors are the rule?

I was just asking to get opinions is all....after winning the Open on
Lake Mead, Hastings put out six signature rods for John, and wondered
how they might do. g

Yes Warren, he does fish many of the small lakes when trophy hunting, a
whole different scene than the tournaments g. He won the Open with a 3
day total of only 28 lbs. on Lake Mead...tough, tough lake, so he has
two totaly different fishing strategies he enjoys.

I'd like to try some of their rods but, at over $200 a piece, I just can't
afford them.

BTW: Your boy is quite the fisheman!!

Excellent John. If I lived in Southern Cal I'd never fish tournaments. I
would be a dedicated trophy hunter. There's nothing like a giant bass in my
book.
