Fished steelhead today, it was 0F when I started this morning, but it got up
to a scorching 20 degrees by mid afternoon, good thing the winds were calm,
only had to clear the ice out of my guides on every 3rd cast instead of
every cast.

If God meant us to fish in the winter, he wouldn't put a lid on the lakes.

Ice fishing is great fun...2 or 3 times a winter, but not when it's the
only option half the year....

I agree Rich, too dam cold trying to get them perch to bite. The one bass I
did manage to catch through the ice fought like a wet sock. I kinda felt
sorry fr him. The fish actually looked at me as to say What the fuc% you
again? Don't you know it's winter? I do not ice fish anymore

I used to ice fish. Caught loads of smallies from warramaug and candlewood.
But I never really got any kick out of it, and it's way too much work. My
kid, on the other hand, likes ice fishing almost as much as real fishing.
