When do you folks feel your pre-spawn generally starts ramping up? I'm
interested from a regional standpoint. I realize that this depends on a lot of little items like weather trends and temps, just looking for generic times. I'm in Central Indiana. I feel our first fish start getting interested in biting in Late March in some of our bigger impoundments. I love to see those turtles start popping their heads out of the water, and crawling up on logs. In the creeks and rivers, it seems to come a little later, with my best action in those waters starting in early April. Any thoughts? -- Andrew Kidd http://www.amiasoft.com/ - Software for the rest of us! http://www.rofb.net/ - ROFB Newsgroup Home |

Both pre-spawn and spawn is out of season here. It would not be ethical to
target bass during these periods. |

We have some fish that look like they are in prespawn patterns here already.
I'll bet that after the last week of warmer weather I can find a few fish on beds right now. -- Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com All about fishing in Yuma, Arizona Promote Your Fishing Website FOR FREE www.DiyComponents.com Buy professional quality components for DIY Projects "Andrew Kidd" wrote in message news:9_WLb.16234$xy6.39803@attbi_s02... Got some activity in Central Florida on the smaller lakes. I was out today.
48 degrees, 63 degree water, and windy as all get out. Caught 6 in 3 hours. Two were dinks. None were on beds, but I saw some beds (new this year) in the shallows. Thats pretty typical for this time of year, especially on small lakes when it has been relatively warm. K |

When do you folks feel your pre-spawn generally starts ramping up?
Here in middle Georgia - around mid to late Feb. Lake Seminole is 200 miles south of me and some fish spawn there in Jan and Feb in mild years. I have caught bass off the bed here as last as July tho. Wide range of times for the bass spawn. One biologist told me mid - GA spawn is 20 percent in March,60 percent in April and 20 percent in May Ronnie http://fishing.about.com |

Sacramento Delta probably has a spawn from late Feb. to August or later.
The waterway covers an area from San Francisco Bay to Sacramento witch is at least 90 miles straight line distance. And the water is anywhere from 2' to 90' deep, with side sloughs that warm earlier than the main channels. IF we could not fish during the spawn times, we would be off the water most of the year. Bass is an all year season here. Except for it being cold and foggy, and have to do some work on the house, I would take the flost tube down to the local ponds. Bill "RGarri7470" wrote in message ... I realize that this depends on a lot of little items like weather trends and temps, just looking for generic times. There is quite a variation in the pre-spawn timing in my neck of the woods. Our General Gamefish Season starts the first Saturday in May. There have been years when guys were still icefishing on the lakes, the only open water was on the rivers. I remember other Opening Days where I was hot wearing only a pair of shorts and sandals. Typically, I'd say that mid to late May for pre-spawn, the bass season opens officially around my birthday, June 19, otherwise it's strictly catch & release from the season opener until then. Last year, Memorial Day weekend was awesome! -- Steve OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |
