Default Sticking telescopic rod. How to solve?

I have bought another rod for beah fishing. Its a cheap (cost me a tenner)
Abu telescoping ten foot cabon fibre rod. Trouble is, when extended it
becomes stuck and VERY hard to collapse. Is this right (I have to bang the
handle on the ground to get it down) and is there a fix, like a smear of
vaseline or something?

It should not stick. Is it new? did you damage it? how old is it.
If you answered Yes, no, less than a month, take it back to where you
bought it an exchange it for one that is not faulty.
Or just buy another one. look in the tackle shops around the sea front you
can pick them up for around £17.
