Hi,
I recently went on holiday down west coast, weymouth. Got Hooked on Fishing! Im probably hoping to go back down very soon for a weekends fishing. Can anyone recoomend some good spots for a newbie to try. Beach or piers or rocks, i have some ledgering gear and rigs and some floats which we used to catch makeral of the pier, i didnt have much success with the ledgering, compared to the floats, probably due to location, but that was summer. Can u still catch on floats successfully in winter? as i find that good fun sport. Last question...can i beach cast succesfully on this rod? Shakespear Contender LS pier/beach combo (3ft) (6oz Max casting Weight) Thanks and sorry for the newbie q's |

Floatfishing after dark in Weymouth harbour will pay off pretty well (except for a few days after heavy rain) at least until the end of November, maybe even up 'til the new year. Last question...can i beach cast succesfully on this rod? Dunno, maybe. I rarely bother with beachcasting around Weymouth, regard it as a tactic to reserve for occasions when all else has failed. Your rod spec, 3m long and max casting weight 6oz looks as if it should be
OK for beachcasting. However if you intend to do this it raises a number of questions. Most importantly. What shockleader do you intend to use? How are you going to tie the shockleader to your main line? Until you understand these questions and know the answers you should not venture onto the beach, since you may injure yourself or others nearby. "JD" wrote in message ... I am intending to use a 80lb shock leader and tie it to my main line, and use a 5 or 6oz casting weight. |
