got home from school today, and decided i would allow myself about an hour's
time for play before hitting the books. naturally i felt that hour would best be utilized by fishing, so i headed a few minutes down the road to one of my favorite streams. Since i had so little time, i carefully chose which sections of the stream i would fish, and after doing so proceeded to cast a fairly large, (don't know what size) orange attractor fly. i cast my fly along the bank opposite myself, and let it drift downstream past a feeding channel, and under the bridge. i knew i was casting unconventionally, but since i had had success with this strategy in the past, i went with it today. the evening was gorgeous, and the sun was sparkling on the water, which was clear enough to view the colorful rocks, which mirrored the hues of the fallen leaves that were drifting down the stream. even if i didn't catch a fish, this would be a worthwhile trip. well, lucky me. i got to enjoy the best of both worlds. i hadn't been out there ten minutes when i hooked into a beautiful little 6" brookie. she put up a fairly good fight, but i turned her sideways, which stilled her, and removed the hook, which blessedly came out as if exiting soft butter. it's amazing how much satisfaction there is to be found in such a short period of time. snakefiddler |
