Dave asks:
What happens if yet *another* Republican is elected to the WH in 2008? 2012?

the party doesn't matter, it's the ideology.
For instance, Rudy G is hardly a devout fundamentalist type....based on his
life performance he could never run on moral values the same way. Interesting
that you view my expression of opinion as hate, as it more one of abject fear.

I don't think that they'll let Giuliani be their candidate. I know
he's ahead now in opinion surveys but I think the GOP trend is
hard-a-starboard yet. The fate of one Mary Panzer comes to mind here.
She was the GOP State Senate leader here in Wisconsin. Had been a
loyal Repub all her life. But she was pro-choice. The state Republican
party took her out. Actually funneled money to her anti-abortion
challenger (a Repub Assemblyman). And she wasn't the first moderate
Republican to have that happen to her. Another one of the state GOP
legislators (Johnserud) quit. He didn't make a big stink about it but
he told some of his constituents that he left because the state GOP
was too conservative for him. Was he forced out? Well, he wouldn't go
that far. This is the second big purge that the GOP has conducted here
in Wisconsin. The first was back in the 30s and 40s when they slowly
rid themselves of the Bullmoose style progressives.

Oh well. By fiddling with the questionaire I got my entrance score at
Canadian Immigration up to 55. Just need to get 12 more points and i'm
in.

What is it with you Democrats. You have a death wish or something.

Give yourselves a break and run someone who can match up their shoes
with their feet.

As far as I am concerned Kerry lost this election between the
Democratic convention and the first debate. Hate her or Love her, Ms.
Clinton knows the hot buttons and will not campaign that way.

An article said how the Dems are the top team in Sandlot Baseball, while the
Repubs are experts at demolition. As long as the Republican Agenda is to
crush and destroy any opposition and to do things 'their way', the values
and hopes of half of america stand to get railroaded. Losing an election
shouldn't be tantamount to a 'Death Wish'.

Oh sheesh Mryon, get the **** over it, our side lost. Life isn't
perfect. I too worry about what Georgie has up his sleeve but
somewhere, somehow, I have to believe we will survive the next four
years with something left intact to build on. After all, somehow we've
managed to survive every president since Truman.

Yea Republicans don't play nice but they reflect where the country is
as a whole on certain hot button issues.

Strangest thing happened on my commute this morning......the sun came
up (hidden behind the clouds of course).

mouth shut, and the blunder of all blunders, picking Edwards as his
running mate). It was a train wreck waiting to happen.

Dave-

Hopefully nonoffensively, I can point out that when Bush ran, he had a
record of failed businesses, a drunk driving arrest or two, a rich family
with heavy Saudi ties, family privilege that helped him avoid Vietnam by
almost meeting a National Guard commitment, no foreign policy experience,
and his biggest qualification was that he governed a state constitutionally
headed by a hands-off governor. Then on top of all that, I'll point out
that about half the population is largely unimpressed by his performance as
President and CIC, he deliberately trumped up faulty intelligence that
brought us to a war we're having problems finishing, he ignored
intelligence that might have prevented the deaths of 3,000 citizens, and he
ran up a record deficit (even without the two wars factored in) and put the
money into his buddys' collective pockets.

IMO, which is no more or less valid than YO, this is a train wreck that is
happening right now.
