Attended the International Fly Tyer's symposium yesterday. I didn't have any
committment to tying this year, so I was just a paying customer. Fellow ROFFians Stan Gula and Tim Johnson joined me for the festivities. It was great seeing them, plus a few other tyers I seldom run into anywhere else. Caught a couple of presentations, both of which were new to me(AK Best is still doing the same presentation of his, for the 10th straight year!!). Shared a Lager with the guys and headed homeward with still more stuff I don't really need, but had to have. All in all, a fine day! Tom |

Over the past few years, I've dropped a LOT of money buying tying supplies, and, when I took an inventory before going to the show, found I really didn't need anything (except another storage box.) Since I'd never been to the Tying Show before, I thought it would be a good place to see what patterns were being tied and get some pointers. After that nymphing presentation we saw, I'm going to try some different techniques and positioning of the legs and see what comes of it. Bottom line, I travelled from MA to NJ to buy a pair of scissors. ![]() was good to see Tom again and go "road trippin'" with Stan. -- TL, Tim --------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj/ |

I wrote that we had Lagers with lunch! My eyesight has been getting poor, though....... Tom p.s. As Tim noted, I needed little in the way of supplies, not tying huge volumes anymore. I did find the need to procu 1 fine barred Ginger Collins neck, that was near Cree in color, 3 Indian necks with some great funky colors, 5 snowshoe rabbit feet, 3 coyote masks, some bleached squirrel and some thinskin for stonefly nymph wingcases...... |
