Cabin fever anyone?

Hi all, (posted through google)

Still no available news server from my ISP, it stopped working about
three months ago and never came back online again. No warning
whatsoever from the ISP.
Anyway, I get to read the occasional TR on ROFF but have noticed that
things are slowing down.

Here sunrise is at 9.30 am and sunset at 1.30 pm and still two
weeks until it starts to get brighter again. We will loose about
another hour of daylight in the two weeks to come. About minus 15
degrees Celsius (5 degrees Farenheit) but not much snow.

Long since I could do any fishing but hopefully everything turns out
in a way that I can go to Penns next year too, new job and all.

Done a lot of hunting this autumn (mostly Capercaillie, Black grouse
and Hazelhen) which helps keeping the cabin fever away. Even my kids
have started to complain that it's always dark outside, and there I
was thinking that they hadn't noticed from all the computer gaming
that they are up to.

So, anyone still fishing? Or have you had to give up on this season?

And I forgot to get those skins from you this summer that we had arranged.

I was able to take advantage of some unseasonably warm and beautiful
weather last month in Graham County, North Carolina. It doesn't look
like I'll be doing any fishing in December but I plan to get out again
in January when the winter trout season opens in southeast Minnesota.
Probably skip February, then hit the Wisconsin early season opener in
March.

In much of the south and southwest US, there are still fairly warm (at least
compared to your area) days and one can still fish in short pants and without a
jacket - it's between 60 and 70 degrees and sunny today, with sunrise at about
6-6:30, depending where in teh time zone you are, with sunset being between
5:30-6:00. Not to rub it in or anything....

In much of the south and southwest US, there are still fairly warm (at least
compared to your area) days and one can still fish in short pants and without a
jacket - it's between 60 and 70 degrees and sunny today, with sunrise at about
6-6:30, depending where in teh time zone you are, with sunset being between
5:30-6:00. Not to rub it in or anything....

The one light (pardon the pun) in this season is Monday- St. Lucia day. Not
a big one in this country, but it is in my family. Both my Swedish heritage
and my younger daughter's birthday landing on December 13 make it a good
day. It'll be candles and Lussekatter at our house Monday morning!

Of course at roughly 41 degrees north, we get sunrise at about 8 and it goes
back down just before 5.

So, anyone still fishing? Or have you had to give up on this season?

Steelhead are running for those so inclined, and it has been (relatively)
warm and snow-free here in Cleveland.

I'd actually like it to start snowing soon so we can get out the cross
country skis.

Here at 40 North/88 West, sunrise today at 7:08 and sunset at 4:20.

No fishing here. Maybe in San Diego next month. The pup and I are
headed to the farm in Kentucky in the am to do a little grouse hunting
and pick of two venison hams I had "country cured" during deer season.

Here at 40 North/88 West, sunrise today at 7:08 and sunset at 4:20.


Minot, ND (48.2 N, 101.3 W) sunrise at 7:48, sunset 4:51.
Rivers and small lakes almost completely iced over, big lakes frozen
around the edges, but not frozen enough to go ice fishing (and I
sure hope the cabin fever doesn't get bad enough to make me do THAT.)
