Look for old deltas where water runs into the pond. Try night crawlers
along the edges of the delta. If that doesn't produce or you prefer artificials try a very slow presentation with small plastic worms along the edge working from deep to shallow. If that still doesn't produce then try working the hump in the middle of the pond if its a bulldozed pond. They almost all have a hump in the middle. If the shore line is higher than the surround ground then it quite likely is a bull dozed pond. -- Public Fishing Forums Fishing Link Index www.YumaBassMan.com webmaster at YumaBsssMan dot com -- Public Fishing Forums Fishing Link Index www.YumaBassMan.com webmaster at YumaBsssMan dot com "rorsborn" wrote in message ... One of the best lures for fishing cold water is the jig-n-pig. This time of
year I still use a 3/16-ounce jig and a #101 Uncle Josh real pork chuck. I cast it to visible targets and let it fall to the bottom on a semi tight line (watching the line like a hawk for any movement or sudden slack). If it makes it to the bottom, I twitch it in place for a few seconds and then slowly drag it in on a very slow steady retrieve. I also use a 3-1/2" tubebaits as well and both are very effective for fishing the cold waters of this time of year. -- Craig Baugher |

The thing with shore fishing this time of year is that most of your bass
will come right on the bank (or off objects really close to the bank) so you should look for "corners" in the bank, where you can cast directly to a nearby bank from where you're standing. And the corners should be on the North side of the pond. Check this out... http://www.richz.com/fishing/articles/earlybass.html RichZ© www.richz.com/fishing |
