So far I really like this unit. I was able to upload just about all the
Tennessee lakes on the 2.5mb of memory, but chose to delete some of them to make room for a couple of Kentucky lakes that I'm planning on fishing this year. Can't wait to get it mounted on the boat, and really can't wait to be on the boat myself actually. Our first club tournament is on the 20th and I have done NO pre-fishing! Haven't even seen the lake since December, so I have no idea what the conditions are except for what I can read on the web-site. I've decided to mount this unit right above my Garmin 160 sonar using a RAM mount, so I can either remove the unit, or just fold it out of the way when I need to put the cover on. I guess I'll need to drill a large enough hole to route the wires through, but what should I use to seal the hole to prevent water from getting into the fiberglass? (Or is that even a concern? When I drill for the screws, I usually add a little silcone/caulking to the threads to keep the moisture out, but what about a larger hole that will not be completely filled? Maybe some kind of rubber gasket? Thanks Y'all! -- Charles B. Summers Secret Weapon Lures http://www.secretweaponlures.com |

I bought the 168 myself, and I like it a lot. I haven't figured out how to
do split screen sounder/gps. Not even sure if it does but I thought it was supposed to. Anyway the 168 is just like the 162 except it also has a sounder. I think in the future I'ld go with separate sounder and GPS like you have. I was disappointed that it didn't have removable memory like my 176 (the 176 will be going on the Whacko) , but it has enough memory to load the roads and recs maps for my area with no problem. I'll just have to delete them if I need to load another area. Its a pretty cool device. I have used it a couple times for sandbar dodging to great affect. I left the trace of running up river, and as long as I didn't hit sandbars on the way up I can follow the trace on the way back at top speed when I am pushing a tournament weighin deadline. Charles, consider mounting it outside the console like mine (if you
remember); That way you can spin it on the ram mount & view it from the bow too, comes in very handy. ENJOY. Warren -- http://www.warrenwolk.com/ "Charles Summers" wrote in message ... With the RAM mount... I can see it from anywhere in the boat. Planning on
mounting it to the right of the console shield, right behind my sonar. -- Charles Summers Secret Weapon Lures http://www.secretweaponlures.com "go-bassn" wrote in message ... I looked at the 168 but didn't like sharing the screen with the sonar. I'm
planning on buying a Garmin 240 and moving the 160 to the front, so yeah... I did consider the 168. -- Charles Summers Secret Weapon Lures http://www.secretweaponlures.com "Bob La Londe" wrote in message s.com... I bought the 168 myself, and I like it a lot. I did that too! LOVE IT!! I mounted the X-15 and GPS antenna on the same
base with a short mast (10") Ram-mount so I can take it on the other boat(s) too! Sometime I guide on a clients boat and attach the transducer on his bowmount trolling motor with a couple of those nylon grippy things. -- Stony "go-bassn" wrote in message ...
