Default Rate these FUJI guides please.

Hi I have been looking at rods. One thing that would be nice to know is
the order of all the different Fuji Guides that Ive been seeing. Anyone
know out of the below guides the best to worst?

FUJI---
Hardloy
Titanium alloy
Aluminum Oxide
Alconite Concept
SIC Concept

Also on another rod (All-Star) guides are Stainless Steel coated with
Titanium how would this rate to the ones above?
Thanks

Of all the guides that you list, I only use two, the Alconite Concept and
the SIC Concept. Both are good guides, I like to use the SIC guides when
I'm looking to build an extremely lightweight rod. They're pricey but VERY
good, durable and lightweight. The Alconite guides are good guides and hold
up well to superlines, but the weight is a little more, just enough to be
noticable (to me at least).

No such thing as a bad FUJI guide, in my opinion

Fuji is a very popular brand, especially with production rod makers. But
they certainly are not the best brand, and their Aluminum Oxide and Hardloy
guides are prime examples of what not to buy.

Look for SiC guides and you cannot go wrong. If those SiC guide inserts are
pressed into a Titanium frame, all the better. Remember, quality is always
better than quantity. In other words, you may not be able to buy as many
rods with SiC guides as you can with AO or Hardloy, but who cares. The few
you have will be good ones.

On that note , Power Pro is the "only"line that will not wear Alconite
guides. Or so they guarantee! Alconite guides are not made to stand up to
the super lines .Only
SIC & Gold Cermet will. On a custom rod you can except to pay about $30.00
extra for SIC. For Gold Cermet add around $125.00 to that.

Is guide wear a problem with todays "superlines"? My understanding the
problem was with Kevlar lines...

Fuji not the only company that makes good guides. Pac Bay, Forecast,
American Tackle, H&H, Perfection, Aftco among others are also in the market.

Easy test for guides, take yourself a piece of 6 to 10 lb test mono with you
when you step into the store. Run it thru a guide on the rod you like and
saw it back and forth quickly under a little tension, you will soon see
which guides are superior.

If it's not important than why did they invent the roller guide?

Don't expect the stainless/titanium ring guide to take to many line passes
thru it until the line melts flat or breaks.

Hardloy, Aluminum Oxide is the same basic stuff, it got us away from the
above guides over 30 years ago.

Alconite is a Zirconia material and stronger and better heat disipation, a
little slicker, and if you notice the inside diameter for each sized ring is
a little larger than Hardloy guides. This is because the material is more
reliable and stronger the Hardloy so they don't have to use as much. The
ring to stainless guide attachment is also better on this guide.

SiC is good stuff, bring a lunch if you do the guide /line test it will take
a lot of work and may never break, due to much better heat disipation.
qualities. The titanium, not titanium finished, guides are lighter and
stronger and extremely corrosion resistant. You won't see them soon on a
Wally World rod. About a $100 plus a set for a longer rod.

You forgot Cermet, got $25 plus a guide?
