Who still didn't find anything about the DCAs, like what kind of drag
they have, quality, etc.

George,
Some years ago, when the DCA's were first discontinued, a friend of mine
told me about this fantastic deal on Lamson reels at his local fly shop.
Thinking that they were the LP model that I was very familiar with (love my
LP3), I told him to pick one up for me, and I would get it from him the
following week when we met on Kodiak for our annual Coho fishing trip.
Another mutual friend did likewise.
Neither of us are at all happy with the reels, which are the DCA 4 size. Its
not by accident that they were in production for such a short time before
they were discontinued.

1. Even at its tightest setting the drag doesn't have adequate resistance
for large fish.. ( the drag is a drum & brakeshoe design rather than disc).
2. With no heavier use than I give my LP, the DCA looked more dinged up in
one trip than the LP does after 10+ years.
3. The drag on mine blew out completely on about the 3rd large Coho that
made a strong run.
4. Both of us sent our reels back to Lamson (he to just get a more
satisfactory heavy drag setting, me to get the entire drag assembly
replaced) and, upon return, there was only slight improvement in maximum
drag resistance.
