Many people will say that one piece rods are superior hands down, but I have
a bunch of two piece rods that are quite good. Yes I admit that I tend to
use my one piece rods prefferentially, but that is probably more personal
prejudice than anything else. As with most things you get what you pay for
upto a point. I have several cheap rods that I have accumulated over the
years in the two piece genre. Some stick or are hard to get apart. Some
will tend to come apart when fishing. However, I have some that cost a
little more that are excellent. They seem to always go together easily, and
have just enough friction to stay together without troubles when fishing.
Those are the ones that get more use too.

One thing you may find is that it is harder to find some exact setups in
multi piece rods that you may want for a particular style of fishing, They
are out there though. There are many excellent two piece rods out there in
the 60-90 dollar range.

Get what you want.

Do you guys think it makes a difference in performance if you use a one pc
vs two pc rod? I am going to buy a St Croix Avid rod and want to know if

a
two piece will be any less sensitive or effective. I travel alot and 2 pcs
would be more convenient to deal with, but would not want to sacrifice too
much performance.
