I guess that this is as good a time as any to GENTLY rejoin my very favorite
group of humans, the ROFBer's. First, I have to admit that you, Mr. Summers, never cease to amaze me. One day your actions make you appear to be a genius, and then the very next you end up looking like that great action hero, SUPER DUMMY! I can say that, because as you know I have earned the exact same title. Not meaning to be cruel, I am not just here to just try to cheer you up, Charles. I have been in constant communication with Da Boss (Joe Haubenreich) since I pulled my own stunt & tried to turn myself into a mental veggie back in April. You personally know what appears to have happened then, but I cannot disclose any real details here at the request of my doctors, who are still admittedly confused even at this late date (especially since I appear to be heading for a full mental recovery, which had been thought to be impossible.) In other words, by this time next month I expect to be rejoining the team, with many of my light duties targeted to directly help you out. With luck, I will finally rejoin the ranks of the "occasionally useful". I will admit here to everyone about one very strange personal thing. This is best understood if I list the chronology & meanings point by point: 1. To begin with, I will state that my April episode left me basically unable to speak or function in any useful way. I was also so totally weak that I could move very little. 2. By early May, I had been deposited in a very specialized Care Facility, where I was first tested to see if my future was to be bedridden in some nursing home for the rest of my life. 3. When I quickly started showing improvement, thankfully they changed direction, adjusting their testing goals & preparing me for possible home care, which is naturally what I wanted. 4. The strange thing about which I spoke of above was this: Even before finally being sent home on a trial basis, my brain was just about fully up to speed on fishing & Secret Weapon stuff. The exceptional nature of this is that at the same time, I was still unable to order my food off of a menu, or even to tell time! 5. My replies to the fishing questions are what prompted my doctors to let me try going home. Before you ask, what impressed the doctors was not the accuracy of my answers (they were not trained to judge) but that the answers were long, involved, sounded logical & had some big words. I will ask each of you to please understand that I am not yet up to attempting any kind of regular communication with you. This simple posting has taken hours, and has really drained me. I just wanted Charles to know that he is in my prayers, & that some help is on the way. Summers" Newsgroups: rec.outdoors.fishing.bass Sent: Thursday, August 25, 2005 10:44 PM Subject: This just sucks... Well, you may remember that I've taken up mountain bike riding. Got a new bike on Tuesday and decided that I needed to take a trail ride. Great bike, great trail. Well, I made it out of the woods and was going through my cool down. That's when I noticed that they still had the lights on at the BMX track. Been there and done that before, and it's alot of fun. Well, new bike didn't like jumps too well but took the first one with ease. The second one was a table-top type of jump where to get air, then come down on the downhill side. Ok, this was where the trouble began. Handlebars must have been loose in the neck and slipped, causeing me to almost castrate myself! I hit the upper bar between my legs, bounced off of the bike, then down the hill on my head. My helmet is toast, but my head is fine (I think). X-Rays show two breaks... I show alot of pain! Down but not out... Charles "Thundercat" wrote in message news ![]() On Thu, 25 Aug 2005 21:50:16 -0500, "Charles B. Now, I'm laid up here at the house with my pelvis broken in two places. :-( Doc says I'll be off the water for at least a month, maybe two. Please do me a favor and tell me how bad fishing is this time of year. Ok? Hope everyone at the NWC has a great time... and Steve, keep us informed. If nobody else is gonna ask, I will...
