57-Pound Catfish Pulled From Missouri River
POSTED: 4:10 pm CDT October 17, 2005 UPDATED: 4:13 pm CDT October 17, 2005 OMAHA, Neb. -- A 57-pound catfish was pulled from the Missouri River Monday morning. Mike Arndt and his father were fishing and caught the 47-inch-long flathead catfish near the mouth of Indian Creek. He said he was using a 20-pound test line and using a 4-inch goldfish as bait.. It's not the first time Mike has landed a big fish. "I was thinking, I broke my old record of 50 pounds. That's what I was thinking," Arndt said. "I was happy. Really happy. I've lost a lot of catfish, man, and I didn't want to lose this one." It took 15 minutes to get the big fish on shore. Arndt said he plans to "throw him in some grease."
