After an unbelievably good season for Largie & Smallie Bass, huge
Pumpkinseeds & loads of lighteninglike Koi I'm giving it up. If I was younger & had no Arthritis things might be different, but one must bow to father time. If you laugh about the Koi (& many will) just try it in the spring when shoals of them can be cruising near the surface or into summer when a few daisy chains of them are around. Catching 100 of these lightening fast but not high in endurance fish is average. Suspend a bit of white or yellow plastic worm a foot or 2 below a dark bobber (I paint them dark green so the fish don't bte them & call them my stealth bobbers) Later on when the Koi have been driven deep because of the heat I use canned corn very successfuly averaging 30 or 40 bass & cats & perhaps 60 or so pumpkinseeds. Yeah I know; corn for Bass. I fish a lake in a (seniors only) park with everyone feeding fish & ducks. The bass are accustomed to corn & fight the other fish off to get it. I caught 5 over 4 lbs this year & perhaps a thousand average sized bass. I know it seems hard to beieve, but I'm the only guy to fish this lake regularly. Is it spring yet??? Good fshing & better catching to you & more power to you ice fishermen. Brrrr!!! |
