I notice yet another respected scientist saying his work is being censored
and wrongfully modified by this administration, this time because they don't want to hear his findings about global warming. Am I alone in my worry that the important values of this country are being systematically killed by the very people that make so much noise about keeping us from being killed? Sure, yes I fear terrorist attacks. But, honestly, 20 or 40 years from now I fear that the changes WITHIN this country will be a greater loss than any caused from outside attack. And before 100 years is gone, environmental issues will be survival issues in the most literal sense, and for all of mankind. Whether you agree with the increasing scientific community warnings about global warming or not ... please explain to me how government censorship of science fits into the ideals of this country. Every time Bush recites his mantra about 'protecting the American people" I'd like to interrupt him. I'd like to be there next to him to suggest that 'people' and property are important but short lived, regardless. I'd like to point out that while this country has a proud history of sacrificing both for LIBERTY ... He has a sad track record of squandering both, to no visible gain. And I'd like to say it's liberty that I want protected, for my kid and his kids and theirs, more than my mere body. Undermining liberties, while talking out the other face about 'protecting America' is either a sign of complete ignorance, or it's a knowing deception. Neither can be tolerated. Are we so physically fearful, as a nation, that we are going to continue and watch our liberties attacked from within .... just because we're scared? |
