White bass frenzy

What do you mean by an agitator plug? Something like a jitterbug? Or is
that something that floats without a hook and you tie hooks with leaders to
it?

The weather is nice again today so I may go out again tonight to see if the
same thing is going on. One guy I talked to out there said they pulled in a
2lb white bass. That must have been fun. He thought the state record for
Ohio was 5lb. I have never caught any white bass larger than 10 or 11
inches.

We used to fish the warm water discharge areas of Lake Erie for white bass
using a large "agitator" plug. We would tie a 4-5' leader on behind with
a
small jig on the end. Sometimes we would tie on a second jig a foot or so
behind the first. It worked very effectively for surface feeding white
bass. You could often catch them two at a time that way.

the next one. When I finally looked down, I had quite of few shad
laying
all over the boat. The shad were 1/2" to 1" in size and overall, very
small. At least, I think they were shad. They were mostly silvery
white
with blue coloration on top.

P.S. I was using an 1/8 lead head jig with a chartreuse grub tipped
with
a
small piece of nightcrawler.
