On the 11th of June, Heavy, his son Nick and his daughter Morgan came up and
went fishing with me. Morgan was the hot stick, landing the most, and biggest bass of the day. Her biggest was very recognizable because it was soooo dark, almost black in the water. Saturday, I was guiding a guy and he caught a nice largemouth off the point of an island where Kevin, the kids and I fished. We worked our way around the island to the point where Morgan caught her fish. I was throwing a wacky-rigged Senko and caught a very dark, almost black in the water smallmouth in the same place Morgan caught hers. Looking at the jaw, I could see a barely healed hook mark on it's jaw, it WAS Morgan's fish. So here it is, Tuesday and I'm out with the new client. We fish the same lake, starting at the same island. Coming to the point, I threw a wacky-rigged Senko and felt a hit. I set the hook and a nice largemouth came out of the water. Landing it, I noticed something peculiar, there was PowerPro line coming from it's mouth. I told my client that this fish was caught on Saturday and he asked how I knew. I pointed to the PowerPro and then pointed into it's mouth. There, buried far too deeply to safely remove was a green painted hook eye! So, I know for certain that at least a fish will survive and actively feed four days later. So, today we continued to work our way around the island, catching a smallie here and there. We got out on "Morgan's Point" and I was letting the boat drift with the breeze. I was dragging a tube as the client pulled fish from the point with a wacky-rigged Senko. I felt a hit and set the hook. Flying from the water came, a very dark, almost black in the water smallmouth bass! I landed it and sure enough, there were two hook marks in it's jaw. I guess some fish don't learn very well. I'd like to know what the odds are on catching the same fish twice, and better yet, three times!
