It has been suggested that one way in which we can enhance peoples' fishing experience is to build a jetty out into the lake. Does What sort of boats are you using? For most coarse - ie. carp fishing flat bottomed vessels are fine as anglrs generally want to moor in sheltered water close to structure (as opposed to loch-style trout fishing where drifting a good wave is preferred.) You scarcely need any jetty for flat bottomed vessels which can usually be beached, perhaps just a short ramp or a pontoon where a boat can be brought alongside at whatever the current water level for easy access. anyone have any advice or plans for building such a structure. Bear in mind it would need to be very safe as our guests inevitably have young children who obviously want to fish with Dad. More a case of making sure your boats/punts have sufficient freeboard. Parents will be naturally take extra care when getting the kids aboard - just make it a rule that no-one fishes* off the jetty. Cheerio, * Someone is bound to try it try, even though it'll reduce their chances. Eg. A local club has set up numbered platforms all round one of its waters where the match anglers are supposed to fish. Without exception they reverberate and amplify every thump and scrape - far better to set up on the little access path just behind them and fish over the top of them into the water just in front where the match anglers dump their excess bait. -- Fishing: http://www.fishing.casterbridge.net/ Writing: http://www.author.casterbridge.net/derek-moody/ uk.rec.fishing.game Badge Page: http://www.fishing.casterbridge.net/urfg/ |
