Very good thoughts there, Mike. This might make an interesting doctoral
dissertation... a study of motivation and its effects on fishing tackle retrieval. Joe "Mike" wrote in message news:kTuAg.14904$PO.14577@dukeread03... I'm not certain about sink rates but the probability of knocking the Stradic over the side vs. the Sahara is much greater. This of course increases exponentially and inversely to the age of your fishing partner, particularly if it's a neice/nephew. I've also noticed that said relatives' reflexes to catch anything belonging to you knocked over the side significantly decrease when compared to anything that belongs to them knocked over the side. I think over the long haul the Stradic will hold up better than the Sahara, even if they're both sitting on the bottom of the lake corroding away. "Joe Haubenreich" wrote in message . .. Stradic is, no doubt, a better reel than Shimano's Sahara. I've used Steve's Stradic, and I liked them, but I couldn't tell any difference between that and the same size Sahara, which is just a little more than half the cost. My experience is the more they cost, the faster they sink when I lose my grip on a wet, cold day, or when I open a rod locker an plunk a rod and reel over the side. Many great reels out there today... worlds better than twenty or thirty years ago for the same price, considering inflation. Probably more important than the brand is the size. I wouldn't go bigger than the 2500 Shimano. A couple reels from different manufacturers I have in the 3000 range feel too big. Joe "Gary Udstrand" wrote in message ... I am looking to replace my current spinning reel and would appreciate any recommendations. The reel will be mated with a 6'6" Avid M rod and be used mainly to fish plastics (Senkos and Tubes). Thanks -- -Gary |
