why would anyone bother with a baitcasting reel for freshwater ?

Set the hook hard with 8 pound test on a baitcaster, and it's going to bury the line into the spool ! Those baitcasting rigs don't even get near reliable unless used with 14-15 pound test. This from an expert who's been using one for about a week.
