One thing about Tim

I think the Colorado pipeline idea sucks big time.

Tim (apparently) has some typically utopian vision of a distributed
irrigation grid
for the upcoming Z-generation. But most of us know this
pipeline will never be used for irrigating veggies, or anything else.
It will only spawn
ever more ticky-tacky front range subdivisions and trailer parks, with
names like
'Sangre Grande Estates.' (sangria in-the-butt achers?)

But you do have to give credit where credit is due. Among still
active
posters, Halfordian Tim (my old cyber friend from waaaay back) was
active on
rec.outdoors.fishing (and later on .fly) before any one else (circa
1992 on
the old terminal-based usenet). And during all that time, no one else
has a more reliable talent for starting two-to-three hundred post
philosophical debates about
catch and release, or about pie-in-the-sky libertarian free market
ideals, and now
about utopian pipelines. Tim is a usenet power source. He's tapped
into
the collective sub-concious byte-backbone somehow.
