It just goes to show they don't know much about leader
straightening after all.

Dave, listen to the sane folks on this newsgroup. *Millions* of
flyfishermen and women have been straightening leaders *with their
hands* for the past 60 years. Hot water and other tricks works
because they supply heat, just like the friction you supply with your
hands. A leader, when coiled again, will still have coiled memory
regardless your boiling/hair dryer/hand friction. If you want to be a
successful fly fisher, I suggest you not look for little tricks, but
do it the old fashioned way, with your hands. If you can't straighten
it with your hands then there is something intrinsicly wrong with the
leader. And if you do not learn how to straighten it with your hands,
you may find yourself streamside with a coiled leader and no way to
straighten it short of building a fire and boiling the thing. In 60
years of fly fishing, I have NEVER failed to straighten a leader with
my hands, and that includes *winter* fishing in the snow, and fishing
the Big Horn with 104 degree temps.

No ****ing contest here, Dave. Listen to what the experienced fly
fishers on these pages say. If you can't do it by hand, well........

Really!

Dave

I "get it" Dave. I'm just having some fun. You gotta admit some of
the stuff on ROFF is pretty funny. The "leader through the underwear"
story had me roaring (I'm was at my computer at work when I read that
and I'm certain my co-workers thought I'd gone over the deep end).
Life is short. I like to laugh and have fun. I never want to be one
of those folks who take themselves too seriously. What fun is
that? :-)
