Default Why so much lne?

Just wondering.
You ever take notice of how much line is needed on a spinning reel?
I see reels 4-6# test holding 140-220 yards! Tell me what 4# fish is
going to "run" that much line out. Why not just make inside of spool
larger.
Me, the farthest out I ever caught a fish might have been 90'/30yds
river fishing for cats/carp.
How about you.
