Default Trolling motor question

I am going to a lake house and the owner is letting me borrow an 11' 2
man bass boat. It is rated for a 5HP max gas, but I have access to a
17 lb thrust electric. ( Boat has no motor now.) I will only be using
it in a cove of the lake. Never used an electric, so would this be
enough power to get around and could I use a car battery instead of a
deep cycle one? I don't plan on using the motor all the time and would
charge it up when not in use. Thanks.
