Default TR--Penn's

....well, the Penn's area, at least. Went up for a quick trip to recharge the
batteries. Great weather, maybe a bit too bright out to be perfect for
fishing, but great for enjoying the outdoors. Bruce Fisher and I went to
Spring Creek on Thursday. The water temp was 64 degrees at 3 pm, and the
water pretty darned clear. Still, manage to land a couple of fish on
beadheaded, shaggy nymphs in a size 14, then a couple more took a #20 cream
wet fly. Failed miserably on surface flies, although the fish were clearly
taking something on or near the surface.
Friday morning fishing WAS on Penn's(rare for me this season, it seems).
Fished above Stan's for a couple hours and landed some more on small wets,
this time olive colored #22's. The cream wet that work on Spring was
ignored. Both days provided a lot of missed hookups, possibly due to the
size of flies, possibly due to rusty reflexes.
Had a fine filet mignon dinner last evening, and capped the trip off by
leaving my fly vest at Stan's. It was rescued and now being held hostage by
the good folks at the Feathered Hook, after being reported to my wife while
I was en route home, by the finder, a young fellow from New Jersey whom I
don't know. I now, officially, retract at least 10% of my comments regarding
New Jersey Fly Fishermen.
Tom
