Last Tuesday was a government holiday in the US (Veteran's Day). Your
faithful government servant took the opportunity to check out the low flow situation at the San Juan, in preparation for the upcoming clave. The flow rate was low - ~250cfs. It's expected to stay at that low level through April. The weather was supposed to be terrible (rain, cold, snow). It wasn't. Everyone told us the fishing was slow and the fish were hiding. It wasn't and they weren't. The weather was gray most of the day. Midges were clustering like crazy. Dry flies were working fairly well, as were SJ worms and midge emergers (zebra midges and chocolate emergers). The water was fairly murky, which usually makes the fish a little less picky. Here are a few pictures: http://bryan.lally.org/SanJuan/ I'll leave those up for a couple of days. Still looking forward to the clave. 3 rooms at Rizuto's are taken, the other 5 are empty! - Bryan |
