Caught a bunch of browns and rainbows on spinners, spoons, and a 4lb
RB on a Rapala Monday. Much too windy for a fly rod. That night, it dropped to mid 20's and the water hose on our trailer at Quarry CoE campground froze. But the next morning was GLORIOUS. Calm, heavy fog on the water, even though still high. Fish were hungry for #18 zebras and brown scuds. Very quiet, with lots of herons and ospreys that I think may have been migrating through. Only fishermen on the water were old retired farts like myself. We told lies between bouts and helped each other net the fish. Cold hands, but warm coffee and great fishing. The North Fork, below Norfork Dam, flows for about a dozen or so miles before meeting the White River from Bull Shoals, which is also a fair trout river. cheers oz, who had been at the Mt. View Bean Fest pickin' music for three days before fishing. |
