I was just by my shop today and I took a look at the low-end #2 line rods.

TFO makes an 8' #2, 3pc "Professional" IM6 that is $139US and very nice.

I don't have a lot of time to run all over the DC-Baltimore area trying
different rods. I would like to narrow down my search first, by using the
phone, so I can go and try out some of the recommended selections. This
will help me cross off stores that sell "non-recommended" equipment.
