Though I'm partial to my "Frank's Fightin' Craw," for smallies in
rivers, I've never seen a fly that works as well as a giant Murrays Hellgrammite. I tie them on a #2 streamer hook and use a lot of ostrich for the tail. The thing represents both a helgrammite, a crawfish and a leech. Its just flat out good.
