Default Eleven Point Trip

Spent an enjoyable 4 days on the Eleven Point. Got to Greer Crossing
on Tuesday evening and fished a bit...caught a couple of rainbows.

Wed. am we dropped boats at Greer and my wife and son shuttled down to
Riverton, our destination. We didn't shove off until 10ish, but the
fishing was outstanding the entire day. Camped a mile or so below
Turner Mill access in a nice area (not one of the designated float
camps). We were loaded pretty heavy in our two boats, jon boat and
canoe...my wife, 2 sons, and our dog...negotiated Mary Decker Rapid
without incident. This is an absolutely beautiful section of river
that I could float a line in for days without a fish and be happy.
For my kids sake, I am glad we did have quite a bit of success. Most
of this section is Blue Ribbon Trout and no fish approached the legal
limit. We were strictly in C&R mode anyhow.

Thursday was our longest day...about 8 miles...much of water pretty
slow. We put in at Greenbriar Float Camp about 4:30 ish and had a lot
more fun swimming than fishing. The water by this time had warmed
significantly from its chilly temps upstream (where we swam as well
but it took some adjustment). Also, seemed that the jetboat traffic
was a bit more on this day, but this was about 4 total.

Friday (today) was a short one down to Riverton. We negotiated Halls
Bay rapids with a bit less skill...I skippered the jon boat a bit to
the left of the ideal line over this ledge style rapid where we hung
up in shallow water. Got off it ok after I politely requested my
youngest son (16) to get out and swim. This section of river
produced some nice smallies.

Beautiful river. Not a single visible dwelling in the 20 mile total
float. Good, bordering great fishing. Enough whitewater to at least
be mildly entertaining.
