The plane went over, then the bang, then the wind from the vortices. Needless to say, really screwed up my cast, i.e. before the loop of line settled around me, I was hugging mud. Frank Reid bseg Remember the X Rock at Second Current? Years ago two F-15s flew over PIR at about 250 feet. Never saw them until they were on top of me and when I looked up, fell over (**** you, Richard!) into the current. Fortunately I had on neoprenes and a good wader belt. I simply swam to the island. I thought they were F-14 Tomcats, but the next time they flew over (the following week on Wednesday) I noticed that the wings were fixed. Now they are flying F-16s. I no longer look up without sitting down first. Soon after the war in Bosnia, a heli dropped off a "downed airman" at the Sand Banks across the lake from Lakewood. It was a hot sunny day, too hot to fish and everyone watched and wondered what was going on. About a half hour later, two A-10 Warthogs showed up and buzzed the area and stayed in a pattern above the lake. Soon another heli approached and "rescued" the "downed airman," while the A-10s circled a bit closer. Great show. Fortenberry should been there to see all four aircraft wasting fuel. FYF FYR d;o) Years ago, we were practicing with the race cars at Cotati Raceway. F102 comes over and paces a car down the back straightaway. Then hits the afterburner and goes straight up. Approved? Nope. Did we report it? No. Did we want a ride in the jet? You bet. And as to radial engines, in the last couple years I got to sit in the co pilot seat of a Radial Otter as to flew out of Kenai, AK to Wolverine Creek and wife gave me an hour in the front seat of an T-6. Got to fly loops and rolls. Fantastic. Not my flight but same thing, same company. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rEJcVSEGIM |
