Well, sure you can. Just don't get caught. I was astounded last summer in Devon and Cornwall to discover that all the water that had fish (except the sal****er) was privately owned and/or managed by clubs. Sometimes you needed a different license to stand on the far bank (I assume that it also meant you could only wade halfway across). In addition, it was often difficult to locate the proper person for obtaining a license, and often they weren't available to nonmembers anyway. I came away with a much more full understanding of the causes of the Revolutionary War, and a deeper appreciation of the result. --riverman |
