![]() "John Hightower" wrote in message ... I'm getting ready to build up a new 8 wt. Any thoughts on Titanium coated guides vs. the SiC guides? Also, the guide sets I'm looking at come standard with a 12 mm and a 10mm striping guide- I'm wondering if a slightly larger striping guide would be better for shooting line?? John, I've used both sets of guides and although the titanium guides are supposed to be better (harder and less inclined to be worn out), I've yet to notice any major differences while using them, other than the price. When it comes to the stripping guide, unless you think the larger stripping guide looks overdimensioned on your rod a larger diameter guide would be better from the simple fact that less contact with the line will be achieved. I'd say it is a question of esthetics. /Roger |
