Default 444SL vs 444SL pike/musky?

Going on a northern pike trip to northern Canada (400 miles north of
Winnipeg) beginning of June. I realize that the main difference between
these two lines is in the taper. However, I believe that I can cast
fairly well with the 444SL and probably don't need to go for the more
expensive pike/musky. Question is how does the 444SL perform in cool to
cold water that I'll be experiencing during my trip? Thanks,

Adam
