Default Snared

Did something similar year before last. Buried a smallie fly with a #4 hook
to the bone in a finger. Fortunately I had mashed down the barb and just
backed it out. Coulda been even more ugly than it was! Hope you had a
similar agreement with the barb!

Standing so close to the trees behind me, it was inevitable I'd snag a
branch from time to time. With no worries about scaring the fish, though,
it was a simple matter to walk back & untangle the line whenever it
happened. Dangling just out of reach above my head, this one snag seemed
reachable. With a little tension on the tippet, I could pull the branch

in
reach, and I grabbed the twig to pull the branch down farther. With the
twig in one hand, I began unhooking the fly from the branch above it.

The tree had me where it wanted me. The twig snapped off, allowing the
branch to spring upward. My left hand, not seeing this coming, found

itself
in the path of the #8 streamer hook. Ouch. For a moment, there I was,
dangling by my outstretched arm until I could pull the branch back down &
free the hook. It woulda been funny if it weren't me. g
