Mount transducer on motor ?

Just got a new depthfinder ((Eagle Tri-Finder). Occasionally I use
another boat I have which I have to keep dry-docked at a local lake.

About 10 years ago, before it finally broke, I mounted the transducer
of my old depthfinder to a piece of plywood and used a c-clamp to
attach it to the back of whatever boat I was using. Was very
convenient.

Along with my new one came 3 mounting options. One of them is to
mount the transducer to the bullet on your trolling motor (I use a
transom). Since the "fin" on my motor is very large, I don't think
I'll have a problem with potentially smashing it on something. Are
there any other drawbacks to this option ?
