Just chase the fish. Biggest salmon I ever hooked was on 6# on a Diawa
spinner. Throwing rattletraps for 3-6# stripers and a 40+ salmon took the trap. 2 hours and 10 minutes later the line broke where it was rubbing the gill raker. Had the fish to the boat 3 times and partner said it was not ready to net. Hell, I was ready. I have landed 38# salmon on 12# in the river and this fish was much bigger. We land lots of ocean chinooks and a few silvers (silvers must be released) on 12# line on baitcasters. I use a TLD-10 most of the time, but also my Browning, and 6500 abu. .. "Gone Angling" wrote in message ... You can also get spooled by a foul hooked fish. They swim stronger and faster and you don't have the leaverage to turn them around. |
